Take the train as your transport mode in some country that have good transportation is the right decision, you would not be stuck in the jam, this is faster and relatively cheaper. However, my advise please consider the time. I do not think every time is good timing to board the train I suggest to avoid certain hours especially working time, lunch time and going home time, you must agree with me as those time slot are peak hours, you do not want to  be stuck in the jam nor do you want to get stuck in crowd.

Once you are in compact train not only inconvenience but also you put yourself into potential victim of pickpocket, so please do not board the train in the peak hours usually around 07.00 – 10.00, 12.00 – 14.00 and 17.00 – 20.00.
